About

Hi, I'm Sonia!

I am the eldest of four Children, born and grew up in Wiradjuri Country, the land of the three rivers, Dubbo NSW. My Father was born and raised in Bourke, Ngemba Country.  I currently am living and creating in Yuwaalaraay Country and also have connections with Kooma.

My path has not always been focussed on jewellery making and I’ve dabbled in other trades.  My desire to design and create jewellery began at a very young age and has evolved along with my life’s journey.  In my younger years, I would create basic pieces to gift to relatives who supported me to gradually sell pieces.  My passion for working with sterling silver and semi-precious stones is now a strong focus for me.  Using quality and authentic materials that are durable is integral but making the pieces accessible to everyone is equally important to me.

I am proud to have created a collection of jewellery bringing my Ancestor's storytelling symbols into a modern light with non-traditional wearable art.  Setting a positive example to the next generation is important to me and I’m in awe of how far this space has progressed since my humble beginnings.

Although I design and create my pieces predominantly, in Lightning Ridge NSW,  I also travel thousands of kilometers to join Indigenous events to meet Mob from all over which is definitely a highlight.

I would like to acknowledge the Traditional owners past and present of all the lands I have been privileged to travel through and live in throughout my life, they have influenced and shaped my life and art.

I hope you enjoy my pieces!
